Entrance of the Virtual Transfomers Gallery Wing where you will find the works on paper which belong to the Transformers series.
While basically two-dimensional, additional paper and material is frequently glued onto the surfaces. Essentially they become works of mixed media. As noted in the general commentary below these works together with the 3-D Transformers toured a group of galleries in NSW, Perth and Queensland. Essays and other texts relating to these works can be found in the booklet Transformer: Field of Change.
Specific essays can be found in the Library (click button below).

When you are ready you may want to check out one of the other galleries. Just click the appropriate button below.

These Works on paper were part of a group which included the 3D Transformer works. This collection toured in 1989, titled
Transformer: Fields of Change
,
and exhibited at these venues:

Albury Art Centre (first exhibiting venue)
Ben Grady Gallery, Canberra,
Penrith Emu Plains Gallery,
Mildura Art Centre,
Benalla Regional Art Gallery,

Roz macAllan Gallery, Brisbane

Gallerie Dusseldorf, Perth,

The earliest of these 2D works were made while in the Kunstlerhaus Bethanien studio Berlin (1983-4).  These are noted in the column "Artist's Running Commentary".

On return to my studio in Wagga Wagga NSW these organic machine images seemed to develop a life of their own.
At a later date I realised that the idea behind these images probably came from a much earlier print image - Muscle Machine - made in 1966 & related images from that same period.
